The first sign of a free press
Is that it has been arrested
Business motives undisputed
Truths grow convoluted
Greed and cowardice not reported
Fear and compliance propagated
Jounalists sedated
Free press regulated

O? Have we had a free press?
Our news(LOL)papers are privately owned in Canada.

Indeed, I think the press has always realised and used it’s power. Is a shame that the common good is not always good for those running it. Guess that is the nature of the system we are tricked to buying into and protecting for fear we might lose our slice of the pie. This poem was written after watching about the state of Rwanda and how people are locked up and even decapitated for speaking out against corruption. Good thing Rwanda is the only place this happens!
